Speaker is Nadia Shahin.
Nadia Shahin is the General Manager of Kawar Group’s Shipping and Logistics Division and the first woman as well as the first non-Kawar family member to be named in a top leadership position at the company. Rising through the ranks from being a junior member of the claims department to General Manager, Nadia acquired first-hand experience in almost every aspect of running a major company. As a leader, Nadia is hands-on, results-driven, and detail oriented with a unique ability to conceptualize and translate ideas into concrete outcomes. Nadia also possesses a highly focused approach to quality issues and spearheaded the significant effort for obtaining ISO9002 certification for the company – the first shipping company in Jordan to be awarded this. Additionally, Nadia supervised a team of international consultants in designing and implementing a detailed Change Management process within the Kawar group of companies as well as a major effort towards maximizing operational efficiency and the utilization of human resources. Nadia is also Head of the Steering Committee for the Kawar Group branding process.
With over 35 years of experience in shipping, Nadia is extremely active in the broader industry and is the first female Vice-Chairperson to serve on the board of Multiport- the largest ship agents’ network in the world. She is Treasurer for the Jordan Export Association (JEA) and is also an active board member of Kasih Food Production Co., Jordan Institute of Directors (JIoD), & COSCO - Jordan.
Nadia is a mother of two and strongly believes in gender diversity and the value of an effective work-life balance. At Kawar, she was instrumental in promoting policies that help and support women & men in pursuing active careers without sacrificing their family obligations and commitments. In recognition of all the above, Nadia was featured as one Jordan’s top businesswoman and selected by IFC as a Trailblazer - Female Business Leader in Emerging and Frontier Markets.
